In 2023 we welcome you for the second time in Neuwied on the Rhine.

Neuwied is located together with Andernach at the northern end of the Koblenz-Neuwied basin. More than 2000 years ago the Romans founded some cities here, built castels, country estates, roads and bridges. To be able to defend the empire against the Germanic tribes, they built a protective wall here, the Limes. Remains of it can still be seen today.

The town of Neuwied is not an old foundation. Since the 17th century, the princes of Wied attracted many religious refugees, who enabled the town to flourish economically. This still characterizes the town today. There are many half-timbered houses, old churches and manor houses in the incorporated districts such as Engers, Heimbach-Weiß, Altwied or Irlich.

Towards the north, the Westerwald begins. Dense and extensive tree population borders here on the Koblenz- Neuwieder basin. Some river valleys with small roads invite to tours on the heights of the Westerwald.

On the other side of the Rhine begins the Eifel. West of Andernach, one of the oldest cities in Germany, we find the "Pellenz". This landscape rises gently towards the Eifel and thus allows a nice entrance to tours in the Volcanic Eifel. The Eifel can also be discovered through the valleys of the Brohl and Vinxtbach valleys. The Brohl valley is known for its valuable mineral springs such as Tönissteiner, Rhodius or Brohler.

The big city Koblenz is also not far away. Here begins the Mosel valley, which is characterized by vineyards on steep terraces.

As in 2017, we are accommodated in Neuwied in "Europe's first supermarket themed hotel".
The food hotel is located in the center of the city of Neuwied not far from the banks of the Rhine. Everywhere in the food hotel you can find furniture, pictures, decorations and furnishings in supermarket style. The creative and unusual room furnishings come from a variety of companies in the food industry. The kitchen team attaches great importance to regional and organic ingredients.

Anreise

By car:

The food hotel can be quickly reached along the main north-south axis on the Rhine via the A3 / A42 freeway.

By train:

Neuwied is not far from Koblenz and is located on the railroad line between Cologne and Stuttgart. From most major cities in Germany it is reachable by train in 1-5 hours. From Neuwied train station it is less than 1 km to the hotel!
